The Fat Shark Transformer HD Diversity Monitor
The heart of the Fat Shark Transformer system is a compact diversity monitor with a high luminosity HD LCD screen. The display can be tripod mounted or hand held for directly viewing wireless analog video (or HD sources via the HDMI port). It also come with an orange back plate to replace the grey ones that are used with the head mounted viewing options. The standalone Fat Shark Transformer HD Diversity Monitor is great way to test out FPV before committing to a full immersion headset. This is also a convenient way to watch the track-side action with friends.
The Fat Shark Transformer Full Panel Viewer
The Fat Shark Transformer full panel viewer is your best option for high pixel density and unparalleled clarity. All you need to do to is snap the display into the full panel viewer which allows both eyes to converge onto the single display at HD resolution. The patented optics of the Fat Shark Transformer system fold the focal distance into a compact viewer that reduces the size to less than half of all previous single panel style headsets. A bottom mounted access panel can be opened to change the optics for different magnification (sold separately).
The Fat Shark Transformer Binocular Viewer
When you’re ready for mind blowing immersive flight, just snap the Fat Shark Transformer display into the binocular viewer and transform your monitor into a massive 55 degree FOV FPV goggle! The monitor can split the screen into two side by side images for binocular viewing. The viewer also has adjustable focus and IPD (inter-pupillary distance) for unparalleled viewing comfort.
Thoughts on the Fat Shark Transformer HD Bundle
As a standalone monitor with built in diversity receivers the Fat Shark Transformer screen is a little smaller than I would like for full time use as an fpv monitor, but with that said, anything larger would make the headsets to bulky and heavy for my taste. The clarity and reception, however, is fabulous! There is a 10 second time-out on the mode selection button to change the screen from full panel mode to binocular split mode, which I think is just a little too short for me to make the changes needed. Hopefully with the built in USB port (for firmware updates) we will be able to change this in the future.
The Fat Shark Transformer Full Panel Viewer in 16:9 aspect ratio is probably my favorite viewing option with this system. It is crystal clear and the balance when worn makes it feel so much lighter and less bulky than the Headplays. Its not as compact or comfortable as the Dominator series, but that’s no issue for me, especially for the price.
If there was an option for 16:9 split screen viewing through the Fat Shark Transformer Binocular Viewer I fell like I would be much more pleased with the binocular viewing experience. The FOV may be larger optically but the actual FOV from the receiver is only coming out as 4:3, so if you are using a camera that supports 16:9 ratios you will have a “chopped” letterbox.
The Fat Shark Transformer FPV viewing system is all around amazing.
There is nothing else like it on the market. I am extremely impressed with the innovation and ability to customize your FPV experience for a price that is unbeatable. If you are looking for your first FPV headset or an upgrade from your Eachine, this is the perfect option that’s not going to have you dropping $500 on a “one or the other” option.
